K-Drama Recommendation 2017

 

1. Black

4. Hospital Ship

A drama series depicts the story of young doctors who provide medical services to island residents via a hospital ship. Song Eun-Jae (Ha Ji-Won) is a capable surgeon at a large hospital in Seoul. She works very hard at her job and will become the youngest female chief surgeon there. Song Eun-Jae is burdened with responsibility over her mother and younger sibling. Her mother lives on an island with her aunt. Her mother sometimes sends patients to the hospital where Song Eun-Jae works, which brings trouble for her. One day, Song Eun-Jae's mother, who frequently has indigestion problems, comes to the hospital. Her mother talks with Song Eun-Jae on the phone. Song Eun-Jae becomes upset, believing her mother has sent her another patient. Her mother goes back to the island without seeing Song Eun-Jae. Later, Song Eun-Jae receives a phone call from her aunt that her mother has collapsed. When Song Eun-Jae gets to the emergency room where her mother is, she learns that her mother has passed away. Song Eun-Jae is devastated.

    Meanwhile, Kwak Hyun (Kang Min-Hyuk) is a physician. He volunteers to work aboard a hospital ship as a public health doctor instead of serving in the military. He became a doctor due to his father. His father is a highly regarded physician and known as the “Korean Schweitzer,” but he has neglected his family. Kwak Hyun wants to become a good doctor, but not become like his father. He now works at the hospital ship with Kim Jae-Gul (Lee Seo-Won) who is an oriental doctor and others. Song Eun-Jae then appears aboard the hospital ship.

5. Judge vs. Judge / Judge Lee, Judge sa

    Judge Lee Jung-Joo (Park Eun-Bin) presides at the Seoul District Court. She sometimes swears at shameless defendants with unspeakable words. Judge Sa Ui-Hyun (Yeon Woo-Jin) is assigned to the judgment bench with Judge Lee Jung-Joo. Sa Ui-Hyun is well known for his excellent use of the law and his conscience to reach verdicts. Lee Jung-Joo fights against a huge power who framed her older brother for murder and killed him.

6. A Korean Odyssey

    In 2017, Son O-Gong and Woomawang (Cha Seung-Won) are in conflict with each other and they look for a true light in a dark world where evil exists everywhere.

7. Mad Dog

    Choi Kang-Woo is a former detective, but he now works as a veteran insurance investigator. He leads a team that attempts to reveal insurance fraud cases.

8. My Sassy Girl

    Nan-Hee (Kim Seul-Gi) is ugly and this has influenced her to become mean. She doesn't live. One day, she receives a ring that holds a family secret. Se-Gun (Ahn Hyo-Seop) is handsome, but he has a cold-blooded personality. Due to the magic of the ring, he declares Nan-Hee as his ideal woman with a beautiful appearance.

12. School 2017

School 2017 tells about the lives of high school students, who are trying to overcome stress in studying. 

The main protagonist is Ra Eun-Ho (Kim Se-Jeong), a cheerful and kind-hearted 18-year-old girl. He has dreams of becoming a webtoon artist, but gets caught up in the search for a mysterious troublemaker at school, called 'Student X'. When he is accused of being Student X, his dream of majoring in art is threatened because he has to be expelled.

Hyun Tae-Woon (Kim Jung-Hyun) is the son of the school director who enjoyed his youth but hides deep scars. 

Meanwhile, Song Dae-Hwi (Jang Dong-Yoon) is a smart student who always ranks 1st. However, he comes from a poor family and is in danger of not being able to continue his education at the university of his dreams.

13. Strong Girl Bong-Soon

Bong-Soon (Park Bo-Young) was born with superhuman strength. Her strength is hereditary and passed along only to the women in her family. Her dream is to create a video game with herself as the main character. One day, Bong-Soon helps out a bus driver who is being attacked by a thug. Soon, a small mob of thugs attacks Bong-Soon, but she is easily able to wipe the floor with them. During this time, Min-Hyuk (Park Hyung-Sik) drives up to the scene of Bong-Soon beating up the group of thugs. Min-Hyuk is the CEO of the video gaming company Ainsoft. He has recently received anonymous threats and was even been followed by an unknown person. Min-Hyuk believes Bong-Soon would make a great bodyguard with her amazing strength. Besides offering Bong-Soon high pay, he even offers her the chance of working in the planning department of his gaming company if she does well.

    Meanwhile, crimes against women take place in the neighborhood where Bong-Soon lives. Detective Kook-Doo (Ji Soo) also lives in the same neighborhood. They have been friends since they were kids. Bong-Soon is also madly in love with him, but he has a girlfriend. Kook-Doo tries to solve the case and Bong-Soon and Min-Hyuk are pulled in.

14. Strongest Deliveryman

    The story depicts the love and success of a deliveryman who eventually becomes the CEO of a delivery app company.

15. Suspicious Partner

Bong-Hee (Nam Ji-Hyun) is a judicial apprentice at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. One day, on the subway, she mistakes Ji-Wook (Ji Chang-Wook) for a molester. Ji-Wook is a prosecutor and denies being a molester, but Bong-Hee doesn't believe him. Later, she catches her boyfriend Hee-Joon (Chansung) in a hotel lobby with another woman. Her boyfriend is also a judicial apprentice at the same institute. Bong-Hee is hurt by her boyfriend's apparent infidelity and tells him that she will sleep with the next man she bumps into.

Bong-Hee indeed propositions the next man she bumps into. When she looks at the man, Bong-Hee realizes the man is the same man she saw on the subway ... Ji-Wook. They decide to have drinks and Bong-Hee later passes out. When she wakes up, Bong-Hee finds herself at Ji-Wook's place. 3 months later, Bong-Hee is assigned to work in Ji-Wook’s office. She works hard there. During this time, she runs into Hee-Joon and tells him to take his things from her apartment. Later that night, Bong-Hee goes to a nearby convenience store and when she returns to her apartment, she finds Hee-Joon stabbed to death. Bong-Hee is arrested for his murder and Ji-Wook becomes the prosecutor in her murder case. Even through heavy pressure from Hee-Joon's father (who is the chief of the district prosecutor's office), Ji-Wook finds evidence to prove Bong-Hee's innocence and sets her free. Due to this incident, Ji-Wook quits his job as a prosecutor and becomes a lawyer. Bong-Hee attempts to find the person who murdered her ex-boyfriend. 2 years later, Bong-Hee and Ji-Wook meet again, but on opposing sides. Bong-Hee is representing the plaintiff and Ji-Wook is representing the defendant in a court case.

16. Tomorrow With You

A Drama series depicts the romance of a time traveler and his wife.
